We are very pleased to announce in this week’s blog post that Afilias Australia Pty Ltd has been awarded two internationally regarded ISO certifications!
The certifications from the International Organization for Standardization are:
These certifications were based on third party analysis and assessment of the systems that support the .au top level domain, and indicate that the .au registry is operating at global best practices.
“This achievement demonstrates Afilias Australia's commitment to providing exceptional standards of security and business continuity within the .au domain name space,” said Afilias Australia Country Manager, Patrick Donaldson.
In today’s post we break down exactly what these certifications mean for us.
What are the standards?
The integrated audit of Afilias Australia Pty Ltd’s management systems was completed by Intertek, a multinational organisation that specialises in inspection, product testing, quality assurance and certification.
ISO Certification 27001 for Information Security Management ensures that the security, including the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our organisation's critical assets is protected.
ISO Certification 22301 for Business Continuity Management ensures that Afilias Australia is prepared to continue key business processes and ensure that these will not be interrupted as a result of significant disruptions from outside threats including natural disaster.
What is the next step in the process?
Afilias has an ongoing program to keep our systems up to date and operating at a world class level. Our systems are audited annually by independent outside experts in order to identify areas for improvement that may have been missed as part of our continuous upgrading process. These two new ISO certifications are evidence of the efficacy of this approach.
Websites that end in .au are the most trusted by the people of Australia and with good reason, as they provide many benefits. Afilias, working with auDA, is committed to ensuring that the infrastructure supporting .au is current so that .au websites are reliable and secure.
